ABOUT US

Our History

Soundstage Productions was developed in January 1999 as an outreach project of the Chesterfield YMCA by Randy Stinebaker. The main focus of the company was to utilize reader's theatre as an art form. Soundstage Productions was a charter member of the Missouri Association of Community Theatres (MOACT). Soundstage won first place and best ensemble in MOACT state competitions in 2002, 2004 and 2005, as well as best actress in 2003. At 2005 AACT regional competitions in Aberdeen, S.D., Soundstage won best ensemble with "Porch," directed by Sarah Armstrong, and featuring Helene Meyer and Lesley Paterson. Soundstage became a professional reader's theatre in July 2005.

Mission Statement

To present highly engaging dramatic performances of the written word augmented by the creative use of visual projections, sound, staging, lighting and costuming. We also provide educational outreach, corporate and non-profit performances with a special commitment to diversity in casting and staffing.

Vision and Information

Soundstage Productions provides award-winning, entertaining, informative and educational works, many of which could not be economically produced in traditional theater settings.

Professional Readers’ Theatre is unique in the nation and allows for productions that celebrate excellent writing and that honor meritorious scripts. Soundstage Productions offers theatrical experiences that engender exercises in imagination augmented by minimalist, suggestive and subtle production values. We add creative and unique supplements using photography, cinematography, graphic and composition artistry that bring life to the script.

Soundstage Educational Outreach Mission Statement

Soundstage prides itself on its “SONAR” Outreach Program. Because of the unique nature of our Theatre of the Mind concept, we are uniquely suited to bring theatre to institutions and groups as no one else can in a flexible and effective manor.

Educating while learning about our community.

Involving through entertaining our audience with thought-provoking stories.

Exploring through inclusion of all forms and stages of the human condition.

2005 – 2006	Fifteen productions of I Have Not Picked Up My Dinosaurs Yet Today for the WINGS foundation on mental illness. This dramatic reading was written by our own Helene Meyer and published in 2007. For more information or bookings please contact Helene at 314-849-0119, 9am to 8pm Monday through Friday.
2006	Commemorated Black History Month at the Missouri History Museum with a production of Look Away.
2007	"The Harmony Project," a seminar on diversity for high school students in the St. Louis area, featuring a production of The Last Night of Forever. Commemorated Black History Month at the Missouri History Museum with the play Stormy Monday, written by local playwright Gregory S. Carr. "The CHAD Project," a dramatic production for St. Louis area high school students on teen suicide.
2008	Celebrated Black History Month with "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," by August Wilson, at the ARTLOFT Febraury 2008. Starring St. Louis's own Jeanne Trevor. In October, four performances of "The Exonerated" to raise funds for the Culture Project. This project features a diverse cast.
