R-S Theatrics Presents the St. Louis Premiere of Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train
by Stephen Adly Guirgis

R-S Theatrics, an offshoot of Soundstage Productions, known for reader's theatre presentations described as "theatre of the mind," departs from its traditions to present Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train as a fully-staged production. The St. Louis premiere of the fiery drama by Stephen Adly Guirgis will take place in the their art space at 220 Crestwood Court.

Angel Cruz, a 30 year-old bike messenger from New York City, is awaiting trial for shooting the leader of a religious cult “in the ass”. In a special twenty-three-hour lockdown wing of protective custody he meets Lucius Jenkins, A.K.A. “The Black Plague”. Where Angel is struggling to remember even a simple prayer from a religion he had a lifetime ago, Lucius (a convicted serial killer) has found God and takes on Cruz’s saving as his pet project, while he awaits extradition to Florida.

An intense, chilling take on life behind bars, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train strikes a fine balance of "intellectual vigor and sophistication on the one hand and so much anguished passion on the other."
-NY Times.

What they are saying about Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train:

"I was blown away - completely blown away. If you are into serious drama, a very well written script, a play that is superbly directed and acted, this might be one you would not want to miss."
